Reserved Seats for Afghan Refugees in Medical and Dental institutions in Pakistan

Let’s categorize the medical and dental seats available for Afghan nations in Pakistan.

Afghan National Seats:

These seats are offered to Afghan nationals by Khyber Medical University in various medical and dental colleges across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s public medical colleges affiliated with Khyber Medical University (KMU). Students with a POR card, ACC card, or Passport can apply for these seats.

Reserved Seats Under Commissionerate For Afghan Refugees:

These seats are offered to Afghan refugees specifically living in Pakistan and holding POR cards.

These seats are offered to students living in KPK, Punjab and Baluchistan.

These are 10 in number, compromising five (5) seats for KPK students, one (1) for Punjab, and four(4) for the students residing and holding POR cards registered in the province of Baluchistan.

Reserved Seats Under Commisionerate For Afghan Refugees:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant and his/her father hold a valid Afghan nationality at the time of admission.
  • The applicant must have passed Higher Secondary School or equivalent education with three science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Math) with a minimum of 60% marks as certified by the Inter-board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) Islamabad
  • Any candidate seeking admission to any medical or dental college shall mandatorily be required to have passed the MDCAT examination held by PMDC. Passing marks shall be 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS
  • Afghan students on reserved seats shall be asked to procure Afghan passports and study on student visas once offered admission if they are holders of POR or ACC cards
  • The same criteria are observed for the seats of commissionerate, except, they should only have valid POR cards (not ACC cards).

About MDCAT Test:

It stands for Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test. It is an entry test for admission into medical and dental schools.
